Position Description
Sr. Healthcare Quality Specialist RN is responsible for evaluating and improving the quality of care and patient safety at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic (KSC). This role combines clinical expertise with quality improvement methodologies to ensure compliance with healthcare standards, promote best practices, and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Job Qualifications:
Education
Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN)
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
Experience
5 years of clinical nursing experience working in the inpatient or ambulatory setting.
Preferred
Experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, and/or risk management. Experience working with Epic.
Licenses
Licensed RN in TX
Preferred
Certification in healthcare quality or patient safety (e.g., CPHQ, CPPS).
Special Skills
Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA). Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of quality measures (e.g., HEDIS).
Patient Safety
Review clinical incidents and participate in root cause analyses (RCAs) in conjunction with the Risk Management Department.
Develop strategies to avoid preventable adverse events and ensure patient safety.
Present findings of clinical incidents to nursing and physician leadership
Quality Improvement
Coordinates quality improvement activities throughout the organization, working with the manager of quality improvement programs and the medical director of care coordination and quality improvement.
Promotes quality patient care by developing ongoing quality improvement activities related to population health, system inefficiencies, incidents/near misses, safety, and compliance.
Actively participates in assigned KSC Committees.
Helps drive performance at our clinical sites by training clinical staff on quality improvement methodologies and best practices.
Compliance
Works with the Manager of Quality Improvement Programs and Legal Department to promote compliance with state/federal regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., AAAHC, CMS, OSHA).
Assist in reviewing, revising, and implementing clinical policies and procedures.
