Job Summary And Qualifications

Under the general direction of the Unit supervisor for the Neonatal ICU/Newborn Nursery the Registered Nurse is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to low, intermediate and high risk neonatal patients admitted for neonatal problems. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process in ensuring safe and competent quality patient care.

What you will do in your role:

• You will assess, plans develops, implements and evaluates care of a specific patient population.
• You will develop Plan of Care with realistic goals: You will obtain informative, accurate and concise nursing assessment.
• You will demonstrates an understanding of the nursing process. You will identifies patient problems, symptoms and psychosocial needs.
• You will utilize clinical experience and knowledge to anticipate potential patient care problems and/or emergencies and makes provisions to meet them.
• You will validate data obtained by others by reviewing plan of care and admission assessment for a specific patient population.
  
  

What qualifications you will need:

• Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
• NRP certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment if not previously certified.
• STABLE certification required as a onetime certification. A new hire who has not obtained it before will have 6 months to complete.
• Completed degree by an accredited school of nursing
• 1 year of NICU experience required
